UNDERSTANDING GHP's
Savings
The costs
during installation are returned through energy savings in around 5 to 10 years
since Geothermal systems have one of the lowest relative operating costs
compared to any HVAC systems available. Consuming 25 to 50% less electricity
than other heating or cooling systems, Savings is the biggest advantage when
choosing Geothermal Heat Pump.
Practicality & Flexibility
Hardware
for Geothermal heat pump systems require less space and allows design
flexibility compared to other HVAC systems. Thus, it can be installed in both
new and retrofit situations and frees up space for more productive use.
High Efficiency
Compared
to other systems available for heating and cooling, Geothermal Heat Pumps are
one of the most efficient. The stable ground temperature requires less work from
the geothermal heat pump unit. Producing 3-5 btu's for every 1 btu of
electricity used to heat or cool a structure, it is 300-500% more efficient than
utilizing electric resistance heat and 20-30% more efficient than typical
boiler/tower systems.
Durability, Minimal Maintenance
With
lesser mechanical components, Geothermal heat pumps have fewer maintenance
requirements. How components are set up underground further protects them from
weather, dirt and possible vandalism. The underground piping used in this system
often lasts more than 20 years for the inside components and more than 50 years
for the ground loop. Water source heat pumps are also easy to service and do not
require specialized training. This allows for more flexibility regarding
maintenance and service.
Aesthetically Pleasing, Quiet Operation
Since the
ground loop acts as a heat transfer device in a Geothermal heat pump system,
there's no concern about noise outside the home and eliminates the need for an
unsightly outdoor condensing unit or cooling tower. Geothermal units are usually
located inside the building space and can be installed in the ceiling, a closet
or along an outside wall.
Environmentally Responsible
The
Department of Energy (DOE) recognize geothermal systems as among the most
environmentally friendly HVAC systems available today. As the ground loop is
completely sealed, there is little risk for soil and aquifer contamination. Our
units utilize R-410A refrigerants with no ozone depletion potential. Its high
efficiency reduces the need to burn fossil fuels, which in turn decreases
emission of CO2, known to be very harmful to the environment.
